Order Status aka  "The List"

This page is meant to keep everyone updated on the status of their orders. Please READ the whole page.

First, a couple comments about how I do business. I am a perfectionist. This means that I tend to want to do things the "Right" way, which is usually not the easiest or fastest way. Therefore, I am slow. Sorry about that. If getting your barrel in the quickest amount of time is important, I might not be the right guy to buy from. If you want it done right and don't mind waiting, then get on the waiting list with your order, be patient and I am sure you will be pleased with the results. I also do this part time, evenings and weekends. I have a regular day-job just like you. I also TRY to have a personal life too.

Now, as for the current situation, I am extremely backlogged right now. Some people are still waiting as far back as November. This has been caused by several things, the worst of them being that I shut-down operations in December to move my workshop. Much preparation went into this, but the move still took several weeks longer than planned. At first the machines just sat idle in the old shop. Then they got to the new shop and sat idle while electrical was being completed. It goes on-and-on, I won't bore you with specifics.

I will say that I am mostly back up and running now. I have finished several barrels in the new shop, but I am about 3 months behind schedule on almost every pending custom barrel order.

About those orders, I divide my workload into 3 distinct categories: "Custom Barrels", "Shop Services" and "OEM" work. "Custom Barrels" are individual custom made barrels and uppers, "Shop Services" is the re-work of barrels that people send to me and "OEM" is bulk orders of custom barrels made for distributors and dealers. Custom barrel work is ongoing, I work on it every weekend, but lead-times will always be long. There is anywhere between 4 hours and 7 hours of hand-work involved in making a custom barrel. This is spread over multiple machine setups on different machines with some outside processes as well. "Shop Services" generally get first priority as these are quick jobs. I do 5-10 of these every week and try to stay to a week or less turn-around. OEM work generally does not take much of my time as I buy the barrels mostly finish machined from suppliers and put the final touches on them.

I personally test fire every custom barrel and upper I build. During some times of the year, our local ranges are not accessible, usually due to too much water in the creek. It happens often that I have finished barrels sitting here to test fire, but am stuck waiting for better weather.

Now for "The List"... This is a list of current orders. For privacy sake, I have only listed first initial and last name. This is for you to see where you are at in the production process. It's not really possible to determine an exact delivery date on any given order as there are so many processes involved. I put this list together because I am getting so many email requests asking "when will it ship" or something to that effect. I just don't have the time to answer individual emails and I hate to estimate a delivery date that I might just miss anyways. I work on custom barrels in batches of 3 to 5 at a time. The first 5 on the list are mostly done with all the machine work, only needing to be chambered and test fired. beyond that, I have most barrel blanks in-stock and waiting for their turn on the machines. As you can see, the list is quite long. If you are tired of waiting, I can understand that too and will refund your deposit if you would like to cancel your order due to the extended lead-time. There are lots of guys behind you that would love to jump-up a spot.
